"An innovative leader in school nutrition" is how colleagues describe Mary Anderson. Six years ago, she developed a marketing plan to "re-brand" the image of school nutrition in her district, which became Culinary Express. Today, her department offers nutritious meals with engaging merchandising and programs that have increased student participation at breakfast and lunch. Efficiency in financial management has been important in allowing Mary to make many improvements such as inventory systems, Internet payment systems and cafeteria equipment upgrades. Outside of her everyday responsibilities, much of her free time is spent working with the Minnesota School Nutrition Association, H2O for Life, Kids Against Hunger and the Global Child Nutrition Foundation.
