Gene White has been working to provide healthy meals for American students for over five decades. She spent over 20 years as a foodservice director in a rural district in California and counts some of her first successes as those working with then governors Ronald Regan and Jerry Brown to sign legislation that funded school meal programs. Gene has served as the State Director of California and as the President of the SNA. Though retired, Gene’s dedication to the cause of child and school nutrition has not changed. She consults for the United Nations World Food Program and has used her experience to establish school nutrition programs around the world through the Global Child Nutrition Foundation.
